What a way to begin a new decade! January 2020 and we just completed our first shoot in London, UK. We worked with a winning sister-team and a gorgeous group of .temple women. The texture and depth of the stories, and the beauty of the women involved on both sides of the camera representing east, west, north and southern Africa was pure magic ✨

Working with Egyptian/Nigerian filmmaker Dalia Dias and Nigerian photographer and creative polymath Bumi Thomas. Make up by Ghanaian make up artist Angela Appiah.

the temple of her skin is a visual documentary project exploring the stories and aesthetics around African women and our tattooing and scarification journeys. The series centers on African women in the diaspora and on the African continent- exploring traditional practices and aesthetics, and the largely undocumented world of how and why we inscribe our skin in contemporary tattoo and scarification.
